Driving Efficiency and Innovation: Unimasses is sharing the Laundry and Dishwash Pod new designs at PLMA Amsterdam

The recent PLMA (Private Label Manufacturers Association) World of Private Label show in Amsterdam made one thing abundantly clear: the private label market is facing a massive tug-of-war. On one side, major retail chains are exerting unprecedented cost pressures on Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). On the other side,  consumers refuse to compromise on product performance.

For the laundry and dishwash capsule (pod) sector, this squeeze marks a critical turning point. Fortunately, the solution doesn't lie in cutting corners—it lies in revolutionary engineering.

At this year’s exhibition, the impact of Unimasses’ engineering and technology was on full display. A total of eight prominent exhibitors from Turkey, South Korea, China, Spain, poland, and Italy showcased products powered by or associated with Unimasses technology. Through meaningful dialogue with these global peers and clients, a clear roadmap for the future of the industry emerged.

Breaking the 10-Year Bottleneck in Laundry Pods
For over a decade, all-liquid laundry pods have dominated supermarket shelves. However, this mature technology has hit a ceiling. Traditional liquid formulations require heavy use of solvents, which drive up material costs and restrict how certain active ingredients can be combined.

To break through this bottleneck, Unimasses introduced its groundbreaking powder-liquid combination technology this year. By utilizing a solvent-free formulation alongside advanced powder-liquid combo formula designs, this technology achieves two critical goals simultaneously:

Enhanced Performance: It allows for superior protection of sensitive enzymes, keeping them active and stable until the moment they are released in water.

10% Production Savings: Despite delivering a highly premium, multi-compartment product, it slashes manufacturing costs by 10% without increasing the initial capital burden.

For OEMs trapped in low-margin loops, this technology provides the exact breathing room needed to satisfy both tough retail buyers and demanding end-users.

Elevating Dishwash Pods with "Dual-Powder" Separation
The challenges in the automatic dishwashing detergent (ADD) segment are entirely different but equally complex. Traditional single-powder pods face a severe chemical hurdle: the degradation of enzymes.

When enzymes (which eat away food starches and proteins) sit directly alongside sodium percarbonate (the bleaching agent) in a single powder mix, they gradually degrade each other over time, drastically reducing shelf-life and cleaning power.

Unimasses’ answer to this industry-wide headache is the newly debuted Dual-Powder Technology. By physically isolating the enzymes from the sodium percarbonate into separate solid compartments, the formula preserves maximum chemical stability.

This breakthrough unlocks unprecedented cleaning performance for dishwash pods, turning what used to be a premium formulation challenge into a scalable, high-efficiency manufacturing reality.

A Shared Vision for Tomorrow
The positive feedback from partners across Europe and Asia at PLMA confirmed that the industry is ready to transition toward these hybrid, multi-compartment formats. The era of simple, single-phase pods is giving way to smart, multi-functional dosing systems that maximize chemical synergy.

At Unimasses, our journey doesn't stop at a some successful projects. We remain deeply committed to continuous R&D and technological innovation. By designing and delivering next-generation manufacturing solutions, we look forward to helping our global partners turn today's margin pressures into tomorrow's market opportunities.
