Limitation of Rotary Drum Pod Machines
Currently the rotary drum pod machines are the most popular and most efficient machines in the industry for mass production of pods. The main advantage of these machines compared to other ones in the market is their speed and efficiency as they do not waste PVA film in the process, but their main disadvantage is the lack of flexibility.
The rotary drums are basically a drum with a group of molds on the surface in the shape of the pods being produced. Each pod shape is formed on the surface according to the shape of the mold and on top of the drum, it gets filled and as the drum turns, the top layer is sealed to the bottom layer of each pod and as they are leaving the drum they get cut.
To switch to a new shape, a new drum with many new numbers of individual molds must be machined and assembled. This process is both costly and time consuming. But what if you are looking for a new product to be added to your line-up and you are not sure about the market demand. The best way is to have some pods produced as samples, maybe 5000 to 6000 pods, to do that using a rotary machine will cost you a lot of money and time. This is when a much smaller and linear machine would become handy.
Although the cost of production per pod might be higher than the rotary machine but for small orders they are well justified compared to the cost and time it takes to make them using rotary machines. This has been our focus, to help clients with rapid sample production for the introduction to the market. We use the development service along with our OEM service to provide our customers with feasible and economical solutions so they can only concentrate their efforts on the marketing and not the production of a brand-new product.
